Music in Islam: What danger?

In our time, music is so widespread that no one escapes it, to the point of trivializing its listening and making music in Islam harmless. However, music and singing are among the distractions that captivate us, to the point of forgetting to pray at the appointed time.

There are two types of music: the music that resonates in the background in the shops, and the more dangerous one that we listen to voluntarily to distract us or "pass the time".

Many people justify their listening to music in Islam by announcing that the Holy Quran does not mention its prohibition. However, many passages of the Holy Quran highlight the prohibition of music.

Allah said: “And among the people, there are those who, without knowledge, buy pleasant speeches to mislead from the way of Allah and to make fun of Him. These will suffer a degrading punishment” (Qur'an 31:6).
According to Abou Sahba, the companion Abdallah Ibn Mass'oud (may Allah be pleased with him) said concerning this verse: "I swear by Allah that it is about music".
